GIRDER FORK RALLY 2009

Cooma Alpine Tourers Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club is holding the 14^th Annual Girder Fork Rally on the weekend of  23 – 25 October 2009. Exclusive to Girder Fork bikes manufactured prior to December 1947, the rally is based in Cooma and travels on the good country roads through the foothills of the Snowy Mountains.

Members of Cooma Alpine Tourers have been actively promoting the Snowy Mountains Region as a motorcycle destination for many years.  Some of the members have been attending classic rallies throughout the eastern states for over 40 years.  Three of the members, Ross Johnson, Neil Sharp and Owen Johnson decided that it would be good to hold a rally in the region specifically for old Girder Fork Bikes and so it began.  The first year there were 12 entries and most of the bikes belonged to Ross Johnson.  The next year the number increased to 22 and so on.  Within 5 years the rally had an entrant list of 50 plus bikes.
